Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Surgical Pathologist to the group at Jacobi Medical Center Hospital. Employed by PAGNY forNYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi/North Central Bronx Hospital. The Hospitals are part of the NYC Health + Hospitals System (NYCHHC). Jacobi is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and NCB has 213 licensed beds.

 

The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein Medical College to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards

Responsibilities

The Department of Pathology at Jacobi Medical Center is seeking and attending pathologist for the Division of Anatomic Pathology. The Division of Anatomic Pathology at Jacobi Medical Center is CAP-accredited, includes 6 pathologists and has a surgical pathology volume of 13,000 specimens/year. The successful candidate must have strong surgical pathology skills, be Board eligible/ certified in anatomic pathology and hold a New York State license at the time of proposed employment. Additional fellowship training and experience in hematopathology or cytopathology is desirable. Responsabilities include diagnostic evaluation of surgical pathology specimens, frozen sections, conferences/tumor board and sign out of autopsies.

 

Review and sign out surgical pathology biopsies, excision, and resection cases

Review and sign out cytopathology cases

 

Prioritize malignant cases and submit all first-time malignant cases for daily intradepartmental consensus conference for peer review and concordance

 

Complete cases in the required turnaround time (TAT) at Jacobi Medical Center 

 

Participate in internal/external quality assurance, performance improvement activities and programs, and departmental meetings, and facility-wide training as needed

 

Involve in processing of surgical pathology service management and quality improvement

 

Instruct residents on service of general surgical pathology and cytopathology

 

Participate in other clinical activities as requested by service director

Qualifications

  • Board certified or Board Eligible by American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP pathology
  • Completed fellowship in Surgical Pathology 
  • One-year experience preferred 
  • Must qualify for NY Medical License
