Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding a Pathology Assistant to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. The Hospitals are part of NYC Health + Hospitals. Jacobi is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and NCB has 213 licensed beds. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein Medical College to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards

Responsibilities

  • Prosection of biopsies from all tissue sites
  • Performance of autopsies as needed
  • Prosection of specimens requiring simple and complex dissection, selection of sections for analyses  to fulfill all CAP requirements for the specific tissue evaluations
  • Provide appropriate dictation to fulfill all CAP requirements for the specific tissue evaluations.
  • When necessary produce labeled cassettes and slides
  • Be capable of preparing frozen section slides including prosection, cryostat sectioning and routine staining 
  • Be capable of providing gross photographic pictures
  • Pursue required CME's for the incumbents certification
  • Maintain a clean orderly gross station
  • Performance of autopsies 

Qualifications

  • NYSDOH License
  • American Society of Clinical Pathologists License (ASCP) - PA License
  • Graduation or near graduation from an accredited Pathologist Assistant Program
  • Preferred autopsy experience
