Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding an Director of Child Psychiatry Fellowship at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. The Behavioral Health Center offers a comprehensive suite of services for mental health including First Episode Psychosis program, medical services, opioid treatment, substance use disorders services, a specialized unit for people with Intellectually Disability, an inpatient Extended care unit focusing on the needs of our homeless patients and prevent recidivism, ketamine assisted therapy, and inpatient and outpatient services for adults and children. Our skilled team—including adult and child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, internists, nurses, social workers, creative arts therapists, peer counselors and addiction counselors delivers compassionate care in a secure environment, respecting each patient's dignity and partnering with them on their recovery journey. We also provide educational resources for patients and caregivers to enhance their understanding of mental health and addiction issues and available treatments.

Responsibilities

Program Administration:

  • Work closely with the Chair and the Chief to define and obtain from the department and institution the educational resources necessary to conduct the program. Through the Chair, it is essential that the Program Director obtain the commitment and active involvement of the teaching faculty in the educational program, including that of the Chair.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive, well-organized and effective curriculum containing the clinical and academic elements necessary to enable the fellows to fulfill the program's educational goals and objectives and to achieve clinical and technical competency in all defined and required areas.
  • Provide for the supervision of fellows by teaching faculty through well-defined, explicit and agreed upon supervisory lines of patient care responsibility. Such guidelines must be distributed to and clearly understood by all fellows, teaching faculty, nurses and other involved health care-providing personnel.
  • Develop, implement and oversee the entire process of application document review, Interviews and match rank list determination to include the participation of the Chair, Program Director, Director of Service, Faculty, Fellows and Fellowship Program Coordinator.
  • Develop program policies for fellow appointment and reappointment, promotion, disciplinary actions, non-renewal of contracts and dismissal that meet all ACGME "Institutional Requirement's" expectations; provide fellows with fair and reasonable written institutional policies and procedures for grievance and due process.
  • Monitor residents workloads and possible fellow fatigue and have a division-wide program to educate fellows and faculty regarding fatigue detection, management and how to overcome its stress. 
  • Provide for the monitoring of fellow stress, mental and emotional conditions interfering with performance or learning, and substance abuse-related dysfunction. If such is determined, provide timely confidential counseling and psycho-emotional support utilizing both available department and institutional resources for physician well-being assurance.
  • Evaluation of Fellows, Faculty and Program and document according to standard of the department as often as needed

Qualifications

  • Must have completed Child Fellowship and board be certified in Psychiatry and Child Psychiatry
  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine 
  • Two to three years in an Academic setting 
  • License to practice medicine in the State of New York 

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $163,200 based on 24-hour work week. 

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $179,520, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:

  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
