NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and family support services. The hospital is a 286 bed acute care facility and a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full spectrum of specialty services, including a burn unit, an adult intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit, stroke and a cardiac care unit.
The Primary Care Physician at Harlem Hospital Center is responsible for the management of patients receiving services in the Primary Care Clinic. The PCP reports to the Chief of the Division of Ambulatory Services of the Department of Medicine and the Director of Medicine. After completing an initial focused professional evaluation during the second quarter of employment, the Chief and Director evaluates the PCP on a semi-annual basis with regards to the competences of the American Board of Internal Medicine, quality of care, productivity (clinical, academic, research and administrative) participation in performance improvement and related activities, attendance at departmental meetings, compliance with clinical guidelines and algorithms, achievement of defined goals, including the goals of Pay-For-performance activities and corporate goals for the chronically ill, as well as other characteristics that may be modified from time to time in the discretion of the Director as part of the Department's ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) program.
This is a full time position. The PCP spends 100% of his/her time in clinic activities (including supervision of residents).
Certified in Internal or Family Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Family Practice.
Certified in Internal of Family Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Family Practice, or eligible for such certification, which must be achieved within two examination cycles from date of hire.
