    In partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island our teams accommodate more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Performs comprehensive and problem-focused Histories and Physical examinations
    • Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries
    • Orders and interprets laboratory and radiographic studies
    • Performs appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies
    • Performs minor surgical procedures including suture of lacerations, I&D of Abscesses, excision of cystic lesions, etc.
    • Application of casts and splints for hand/ finger fractures
    • Performs first and second assist duties
    • Conducts daily SICU/ floor rounds
    • Writes orders and progress notes
    • Evaluates and clarifies clinical conditions
    • Formulates and implements treatment and therapeutic plans for hospitalized patients
    • Handles discharge planning and dictates discharge summaries
    • Renders emergency care
    • Facilitates patient referral to the appropriate physician/ service
    • Educates and counsels patients
    • Answers consults from the ED and other wards for General Surgery and its subspecialties. 

     

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program, required
    • Current Board Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), required.
    • Licensed Physician Assistant by the New York State Department of Education, required.
    • A bachelor's degree, required
    • Current BLS certification, required
    • D.E.A. Certificate, required
    • Infection Control Certificate, required
