Lincoln Medical & Mental Health Center, located just 15 minutes from NYC, is an acute care teaching hospital academically affiliated with Weill-Cornell Medical College. Dedicated to providing high quality patient care to a diverse community, Lincoln Hospital is a NYS designated Level I Trauma and Stroke Center and has Centers of Excellence in all medical specialties including its awarding winning Cancer and Breast Centers.


Case finding: Utilize disease index (Malignancy Study Report) to identify both inpatient and outpatient malignancies. Malignancy Student Report is requested from the Information Services Department on a monthly basis. The registrar also utilizes pathology and cytology reports to identify cases to be accessioned.


Abstracting: Obtain required data set from the patient's medical records as required by the ROADS Manual Volume II for 1998 accession year. Follow the old requirements set by the FORDS manual on staging prior to January 2003 and new requirements for cases diagnosed after January 1, 2003.


Follow-up: Follow all living analytic patients to obtain information on the quality of life and survival.


NYSCR Reporting: Complete Abstraction and submission to New York State Cancer Registry (NYSCR) of all cancer cases. Cases should be submitted in accordance with LMMHC Cancer Registry's Policy and Procedure Manual and NYSCR reporting Public Health Law Section 2401.

Possess a Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma with minimum of 3 years full-time equivalent experience in the cancer registry field and cancer registry certification. Registrars must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheets expected. Certified Cancer Registrars are required and mandated by the New York State Department of Health. Proficient in Precis Hospital, Microsoft Office.
