    Responsibilities

    Under the supervision of the ARNT Director, provides quality mental health care to the Inmate population of the New York City Department of Corrections on Rikers Island.

     

    1. Screens, assesses needs, develops discharge plans for identified substance abusing individuals. 
    2. Provides individual and group counseling for patients. 
    3. Acts as liaison with community treatment programs. 
    4. Prepare records and reports on patients and assists in other departmental duties as required. 
    5. May provide substance abuse education to general population. 
    6. Additional related duties as assigned by appropriate authority.

     

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Sciences preferred

     

    • Experience in counseling a substance abusing and/or incarcerated population

     

    • Good verbal and writing skills
