    Responsibilities

    Under supervision of the Health Service Administrator/On Island Administrator, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting in the overall Operation of Rikers Island, including MDC, BKDC and VCBC.  Also, provides secretarial support to the On Island Administrators.

     

    • Must be able to handle mutltiple responsibilities simultaneously and meet deadlines
    • Must be able to handle payroll related questions and pre-generate time keeping records
    • Ability to maintain matrix par levels by checking staff attendance and replacing staff as needed
    • Ability to maintain data and/or informative reports on logs and databases
    • Ability to handle a high call volume, receive and disseminate important information related to medical services
    • Ability to work in a Correctional setting
    • On a needed basis, must be able to collect and disseminate medical related information to inmates/patients
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • High School graduate or equivalent.
    • Computer Literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power-Point).
    • Efficient in operation of PCs, Fax machine, copiers, scanner.
    • Experience in similar position required
