NYC Health + Hospitals/Correctional Health Service (CHS) is a national leader in the delivery of healthcare to the justice-involved population and, with PAGNY’s active support, aspires to the highest standards of care with the goal of meeting or exceeding what is available in the community.


    Seeking highly trained physician to provide primary care in the NYC jail system, additional responsibilities will include Education, Quality Improvement and Population Health work.  The primary role is to provide primary care to patients in jail based clinics, including performing intake evaluation and treatment, follow up of the range of chronic diseases present in the criminal justice population and providing emergency care with the support of Emergency Medicine physicians. In addition to these duties, this position will be assigned other administrative responsibilities (ie:  data analysis, population health, development of policy, peer review for patterns of care delivery (ie. antibiotic usage, referral practices) and clinical education sessions with peers or trainees.  Physicians work as part of a care delivery team with strong administrative support staff, integrated nursing and mental health.


    • Registered to practice medicine in NY State Federal DEA, BCLS, or ACLS and Infection Control Certification.  Medical
      Specialty license or certfication.  Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty.
    • Medical doctor with 3 to 5 years of directly related experience, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
    • Strong analytical and research skills required.
    • ACLS certification (training avaiable) and Infection Control Certification
