    In partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center and is recognized for providing centers of excellence in the areas of Bariatric Surgery, Breast Imaging and Sexual Assault Forensics. Our teams provide services for nearly 213,000 outpatient visits, more than 83,000 emergency room visits and over 13,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains an academic affiliation with Columbia University Medical Center.

    Responsibilities

    The vascular surgeon must have advanced knowledge and experience with the management of vascular problems including:

    • Hemodialysis access procedures
    • Peritoneal venous shunts, shunt procedure for portal hypertension
    • peritoneovenous drainage procedures for relief or ascites
    • sclerotherapy
    • Vein ligation and stripping

    Qualifications

    Preferred:

     

    Core Privileges in Vascular Surgery

    Successful completion of ACGME or AOA accredited residency in vascular surgery

    Current sub-specialty certification or active participation in the examination process with achievement of certification leading to sub-specialty certification in vascular surgery by the ABS or AOBS within 5 years of completion of training preferred.
    Endovascular Surgery:  Evidence of advanced training beyond Fellowship.
    Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA): Evidence of advanced training beyond Vascular Fellowship
    Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA): Advanced training/certification required
    Peritoneal venous shunts, shunt procedure for portal hypertension: Evidence of special training, current competence and experience involving adequate number of procedures with satisfactory results for initial appointment and for reappointment.
    Temporal artery biopsy:  Evidence of special training, current competence and experience involving adequate number of procedures satisfactory results for initial appointment and for reappointment.

     

     

    Required:

     

    Current Curriculum Vitae (please note that dates must have month, year and there should be no break (gap) in dates, if there is a break equal or more than (30) days a written explanation stating the reason (s) for the break/gap must be given)
    NYS License
    Current signed NYS License Registration Certificate
    Other State License Registration certificate being held
    Current DEA
    Board Certificate  in Vascular Surgery or Evidence of current Board status
    Professional Training Certificates (i.e. Medical School Diploma, ECFMG Certificate Residency Certificate, Fellowships)
    Current Life Support Training Certification (minimum of BCLS, However, ACLS and ATLS / PALS required from physicians applying for privileges in the Department of Emergency Medicine
    Current certificate of training in Infection Control from a NYSDOH Approved Training Program
    Current professional liability insurance coverage, if applicable
    Proof of your identity (i.e. unexpired United States Passport, Certificate of Naturalization, Alien Registration card)
    Evidence of health clearance by Health + Hospitals Employee Health Service

    Evidence of Completion of Pain Management course, Clinicolegal Online Training Course.  This training can be taken at www.med-iq.com
