    In partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center and is recognized for providing centers of excellence in the areas of Bariatric Surgery, Breast Imaging and Sexual Assault Forensics. Our teams provide services for nearly 213,000 outpatient visits, more than 83,000 emergency room visits and over 13,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains an academic affiliation with Columbia University Medical Center.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluation, diagnosis, admission, consultation, treatment and non-operative and pre, intra and post-operative care to patients to correct or treat various conditions
    • Illness and injuries of the extremities, spine and associted structures by musculoskeletal system, deformities, injuries and degenerative diseases of the spine, hands feet, knee, hip, shoulder and elbow. Including primary and secondary muscular problems and the effects of central or peripheral nervous system lesions of the musculoskeletal system.
    • The performance of histories and physical exams, casting of fractures, injections of joints, insertion of venous and arterial catheters and interpretation of image scans, radiographs and other diagnostic tests.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Successful completion of Accreditation Council for Graduates Medical Education (ACGME) - American Osteopathic Association (AOA) - Accredited residency in Orthopedic surgery.
    • Board Status: Time-unlimited certification or time-limited certification/eligibility with achievement of certification within 5 years of residence/fellowship completion by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery as well as active participation in maintenance of certification program in Orthopedic Surgery preferred
    • A physicians clinical privileges will be based upon training and demonstrated competence and not be granted solely on the basis of Board Subspecialty certification of fellowship in professional societies of colleges.

     

    Preferred:

    • Demonstrated competence with performance of adequate number of Orthopedic Surgery cases and procedures, reflective of the scope of privileges request, with satisfactory outcomes in the past 24 hours.
