    In partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island our teams accommodate more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

    Responsibilities

    • Elicit a detailed and accurate medical history, perform a complete physical examination and record all pertinent data
    • Perform and/or interpret and/or order routine diagnostic studies including routine laboratory procedures, common radiologic studies and EKG tracings
    • Inform the supervising Physician of all changes in the conditions and pertinent diagnostic results
    • Perform therapeutic procedures including injections, naso-gastric and urinary catheterization and insertion of intravenous lines
    • Refer to appropriate sub speciality consultants
    • Counsel patients regarding physical and mental health a well as provide information on nutrition, health promotion, pertinent health education
    • Develop management plans in accordance with established protocols in conjunction with the Attending Physician
    • Report to the Chief Physician Assistant
    • Work collaboratively with representatives from dietary, nursing, respiratory, social services and other patient care/ support service departments

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of CAAHEP ( Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs) accredited Physician Assistant educational program
    • Current NYS Registration as a Physician Assistant
    • Current certification admissibility issued by the NCCPA ( National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
    • Must have the ability to work in team environment and interact with patients and their families that instills confidence and facilitates communication
