With approximately 55,000 admissions per year and an average daily population of 10,000, the NYC jail system is one of the largest in the nation. Seeking highly trained physician to provide primary care in the NYC jail system, additional responsibilities will include Education, Quality Improvement and Population Health work. The primary role is to provide primary care to patients in jail based clinics, including performing intake evaluation and treatment, follow up of the range of chronic diseases present in the criminal justice population and providing emergency care with the support of Emergency Medicine physicians. In addition to these duties, this position will be assigned other administrative responsibilities (ie: data analysis, population health, development of policy, peer review for patterns of care delivery (ie. antibiotic usage, referral practices) and clinical education sessions with peers or trainees. Physicians work as part of a care delivery team with strong administrative support staff, integrated nursing and mental health.
