    • In partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island our teams accommodate more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.


    Coney Island Hospital is in need of a Director of Hematology/Oncology:



    • Conduct monthly meetings of the Division of Hematology and Oncology 
    • Participate with the Hospital in the development and implementation of mechanisms
    • Participate in other related responsibilities as assigned by the Employer, the Executive Director, the Medical Director of the Hospital and/or the Chairman of the Department of Medicine
    • Plan joint programs, procedures, and coordinate activities and other patient care services with members of other departments including but not limited to Pathology, the Clinical Laboratories and the Blood Bank
    • Serve as the Assistant Chairman of the Tumor Board
    • Prepare monitor and follow up on division Performance Indicators and report to the Department of Medicine Performance Improvement Committee, prepare monthly schedules for teaching of students, residents, and fellows
    •  Assist in the development of the Hematology and Oncology Curriculum for the Internal Medicine Residencies and help coordinate the scheduling of lectures and lecturers.
    •  Coordinate Fellows’ Activities with the collaborating training program sponsor (Maimonides)
      o Scheduling
      o Evaluations
      o Attend Milestone Meetings at Maimonides
      o Participate in Interviews for Fellow Match Selections at Maimonides


    Board certification in Hematology and Oncology. Demonstrated leadership, educational and managerial abilities are essential including personnel, finance, quality and clinical resource management; maturity in clinical practice in the specialty of Hematology and Oncology is essential.
