Overview

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is adding an ACT-Psychiatrist to the group at NYC Health + Hospitals System/South Brooklyn Health. South Brooklyn Health is a redesigned health care campus featuring the new 11-floor Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital which provides emergency care, modern labor & delivery suites, and state-of-the-art surgical services. The new Health & Wellness Institute offers outpatient services—from primary and preventive care to specialty services for children and adults—all designed to keep our community healthy and accommodates more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. 

 

The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine to maintain its high healthcare delivery standards and to provide its staff with teaching and research opportunities and the chance to work with medical students, residents and fellows very closely.

Responsibilities

South Brooklyn Health Department of Psychiatry consists of board-certified physicians, nurse practitioners, and PAs including a variety of a care team.

The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program consists of two multidisciplinary teams provide comprehensive in-home and in-community treatment for high-risk patients diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses who have a history of limited adherence to traditional clinic-based services. Providers conduct psychiatric assessments, medication management, and individual, group, family, and substance use therapy services. In addition, the teams share resources related to financial and other supports that increase patients’ ability to function in the community and decrease the likelihood of rehospitalization.

Our behavioral health center provides both inpatient and outpatient treatment for behavioral health needs, including:

  • Psych Emergency Services
  • Psych Inpatient Units - 60 bed unit
  • Consultation/Liaison Service
  • Outpatient Services inlcuding the Med Supervised Outpatient Program at Ida G. Israel Location
  • Med-Psych Clinic

Qualifications

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified Psychiatrist
  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine 
  • Completed residency training in an accredited program within Psychiatry
  • License to practice medicine in the State of New York
  • Experience and training in the use of long acting psychotropic medication required
  • Experience with Assertive Community Treatment or Mobile Crisis Team preferred

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $236,900* (board eligible); $247,200* (board certified) based on 40-hour work week. Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.

The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $404,590** (board eligible) and $414,920** (board certified), which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, sessional/per diem hours, and other factors as set forth below:

  • Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $104,000.
  • Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
  • 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
    • Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
    • After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
  • Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
  • Generous Annual Paid Time Off (PTO): Vacation, Sick, Holiday, and CME days.
  • Medical, Prescription, and Dental Coverage: Top-tier plans with employee contributions significantly below market rates.
  • Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Coverage: Equal to 2x your salary (up to a maximum of $300,000) provided at no cost to you.
    • Additional employee-paid Voluntary Life and AD&D coverage is available for you and your family.
  • Loan Forgiveness: Position may be eligible for loan forgiveness through certain state or federal programs.
  • Medical Malpractice Coverage (equivalent to occurrence-based): Provided at no cost to the employee.
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
  • Pre-tax employee-paid contributions for commuting expenses.
